  Joy, my wife, and a friend of her's will be shown dancing with
  Shirley Maclaine tonight on a Barbara Walter's TV special. 

  Well, actually Joy's *picture* will be appearing. And it's a still
  photo. And I don't think she gets mentioned on the show. And I doubt
  if Shirley would recognize Joy if she saw her in person.

  And it's an old picture. It was taken quite a number of years ago
  when Joy, her friend, and Shirley Maclaine attended the same ballet
  school for little girls in Alexandria, Virginia. We have a copy of
  the same photo at home and it shows 3 little girls in tutus doing
  ballet. Joy in a tutu looks a lot cuter than Shirley in a tutu, by
  far.

  The show is a repeat of a Barbara Walter special shown several
  months ago. We missed it the first time around. Our 22-year old
  daughter was watching the show with some friends. When the photo
  appeared, she screamed "That's my mother!" Some of her friends
  believed her. She called us last night to tell us the show will be
  on again. 

  For those in the Mass-NH area, it will be on ABC channels 5, 8 and 9
  at 10:00 tonight (Tuesday, Sep. 10). Joy hasn't seen Shirley since
  dancing school. She is still friends with the third "little girl,"
  who still lives near Alexandria.

  And now you know the rest of the story.

   I am somewhat embarassed to say that we watched the show and did
   not see Joy's picture. We taped it, and went back and looked
   carefully at the montage of photos. No Joy. 

   Either my daughter thought it was another picture of her mother, or
   it was a different Barbara Walter special. The copyright for the
   show was 1991. Did Barbara have an earlier interview with Shirley?

   I appologize to anyone who has been mislead. Oh well -- Joy has
   many outstanding attributes. She doesn't have to base her claim
   to fame on a 40-year old picture with Shirley Maclaine.
