869.0. "What are you wearing during THE_GRAND_WEEKEND" by AKOCOA::LAMOTTE (Join the AMC and 'Take a Hike') Mon Jun 10 1991 16:03

I am entering this anonymously as a result of mail I received this
    afternoon.

What are you wearing to the Grand Party?

I know what DougO is wearing on the bike ride and I will take a
    picture!

And liesl will surely wear pink.

I wonder what Kai and Evan will wear?

I will wear whatever fits. ;-(

Jeans and sneakers and maybe either my Flash or my Batman T-shirt or
else a sweat suit in case I go outside for a while and maybe I'll bring
a windbreaker in case it cools down at night. For all the Brits and
people with nasty senses of humor (Like Me) Windbreaker is a light
jacket to protect one from the wind.

The Brits refer to this kind of jacket as a "wind cheater" (so I understand).

As somebody once put it:

"The Brits cheat wind. The Yanks break wind."

Evan, no doubt, will wear whatever *he* wants to. He will probably not
change after sightseeing that day, and so his shirt will *probably* be dirty.

I will probably wear pants. We pack tonight. I doubt that I will pack a
dress, unless you folks want to really get dressy.

And here I thought I was the only one who defines formal as 'any pants
not denim and a shirt with buttons' !!
869.29Formal?SMURF::CALIPH::binderSimplicitas gratia simplicitatisTue Jun 18 1991 10:1714
Sorry, Dana, formal means a tie. (This, of course, follows from the
fact that I don't wear shirts without buttons except inside shirts
*with* buttons.)

For me, formal means a hand-tied bowtie; I gave up on long ties to avoid
slopping them in my soup, and I wouldn't stoop to a fake bowtie. Not
eccentric enough. :-)

I cannot *imagine* what anyone could say or do that would cause me to
wear a tie to the Grand Party.

How many teddy animals will be joining us at the Grand Party?

I've been thinking more about this subject...

Trying to decide if I should go for *outrageous* or subtle. Is anyone else
dressing *UP* for this? :-) Maybe I'll wear one of the three dresses I own,
all of which have been gathering dust for more than a year.

Then there is always the infamous leather mini-skirt.

I've decided that I definitely *won't* be dressed in my standard programmer's
uniform of jeans and t-shirt.
