865.0. "180 Pound Ovarian Cyst " by ESCROW::MCCLURE (MOD ENTRY MOANS_V2/FILE=CLO:MOANS 0 12-DEC-1989 09:07 1 1) Thu Jun 06 1991 13:14

KEARNEYSVILLE, W. VA. A woman who had a 180-pound ovarian cycst removed is now
enjoying the simple pleasures of life, like sitting in a chair and riding in a
car.

The 40-year old Jefferson County resident, who has not bvee identified, weighed
708 pounds before surgery May 2 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore to remove
the cyst and about 100 pounds of tissue that supported it.

She was able to go home last Friday, in a subcompact car.

The woman, who spent most of the past four years in bed, now weighs 336 pounds.

"I didn't go anywhere. When I did, people stared and poked fun at me," the
woman told the Sunday Journal of Martinsburg. "I hated myself. Lots of times
I thought to myself 'if I would just die, my family would be better off.'"

865.1Amazing things do happen!RIPPLE::KENNEDY_KAThu Jun 06 1991 16:006
    Apparantly this is true. I showed a co-worker the base note and she
    said she saw it on the news about a week ago. They showed the cyst and
    she said it was immense. It took 7 people to move it. Too bad That's
    Incredible isn't on....this would be great for that show!

    yes it was true and it missed the record by almost half.

    I once worked with a woman who developed that type of ovarian cyst,
    hers was as big as a football and had apparently developed in a
    period of about a month. If she had ignored it, it would have been
    much larger.
