BILLS STAINES ON SATURDAY, JUNE 22
Popular folk singer Bill Staines appears at The Fresh
Ground Coffeehouse on Saturday, June 22. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.,
for an 8:00 performance. Admission is $8 at the door (sorry, no
advance ticket sales!). The Fresh Ground Coffeehouse is located at
The First Unitarian Society, 66 Elm Street, Gardner, Massachusetts.
(Directions follow the form feed at the end of this press release.)
Always a favorite with folk audiences, Bill Staines is a
singer, storyteller, and championship yodeler who weaves a magical
blend of wit and gentle humor into his performances. He performs
mostly his own material, which ranges from traditional folk tunes
to contemporary country ballads.
Staines' voice is a rich, clear, baritone; perfect for leading
singalongs. Some of his well-known songs include "A Place in the
Choir," "Spirit Song," "The Ballad of Jake and Ten Ton Molley,"
and "Wild, Wild Heart." His guitar playing is expert and unique:
left-handed, he plays a right-handed guitar without reversing the
strings.
Staines began performing full-time and traveling extensively
in 1969. Since then, he has performed in nearly every state. He has
appeared frequently on Public Radio's "A Prairie Home Companion" and
has also appeared on "Mountain Stage" and "The Good Evening Show."
The Fresh Ground Coffeehouse provides entertainment by
experienced folk musicians in a smoke-free, alcohol-free environment.
Refreshments are available at reasonable prices.

-d, you can assume that the bears are coming to _all_ the events of the
weekend! I left them out of my signup replies, after the first couple,
so that folks wouldn't get tired of hearing about them.
