793.1 | Dish Rags - Made in Clinton, MA | AKOCOA::LAMOTTE | Join the AMC and 'Take a Hike' | Tue Apr 30 1991 19:10 | 10 |
| I have been knitting these little dish rags...my Aunt made some and I
found them relaxing to make and great for cleaning up counters...and
wiping out teflon pans.
Knitting is therapy for me. I am accumulating these little pieces of
knitted material rapidly.
Send mail if interested.

793.2 | Tarot readings | BSS::VANFLEET | Uncommon Woman | Wed May 01 1991 15:37 | 11 |
| I'd be happy to donate 2 Tarot readings either in person in June during
the Anniversary weekend or at a mutually agreeable time over the phone.
Phone readings require that you place the call and have a deck of
Tarot cards with you during the call.
Proceeds will go to expenses for the Anniversary weekend events or to help
defray travel expenses for people from outside the GMA.
(Recommendations on request.)

793.3 | on the block | LEZAH::BOBBITT | Lift me up and turn me over... | Mon May 06 1991 12:35 | 12 |
| Joyce, I'd appreciate it if you'd clarify how a silent auction works,
for those of us who are unfamiliar with it....
In addition, I am offering 10 neck/shoulder-rubs of up to 15-minute
duration to be given out during the fifth anniversary weekend. These
will be given in a public place, so if you're shy, please don't bid.
Minimum bid is $10 per. All proceeds will go to defray the expenses of
the womannotes fifth anniversary weekend.

793.4 | My vision of a Silent Auction | AKOCOA::LAMOTTE | Join the AMC and 'Take a Hike' | Mon May 06 1991 12:53 | 15 |
| If we were attending a fair and they had a Silent Auction you would
probably see a table with several items listed and/or displayed. They
would have sign up sheets associated with the item and individuals
would make a 'bid' by signing their name, phone number and bid. The
organizers of the auction would then call the individual with the
highest bid. They would have a period of time to collect the item,
if they forfeited it would go to the next bidder.
In an electronic Silent Auction the individual with an item to auction
enters a description of the item and/or service. Readers respond via
VAXmail with a bid on the item and the contributor determines the
winner.
There is the option of having the bidding process occurring in this
note. It might be fun.

793.5 | J & J's Memere | AKOCOA::LAMOTTE | Join the AMC and 'Take a Hike' | Mon May 06 1991 13:00 | 10 |
| J & J have decided to share An Afternoon With Memere. Saturday, May

We will take a youngster (any age or sex) for the afternoon from 1-6 to
do grandparenting/grandkid things.
This offer comes with a guarantee of enjoyment for the child along with
exhaustion. They will be asleep by 7 that evening.
All proceeds will be donated toward the 5th Anniversary Weekend.

It was my intention that folks could use this note as a means of
donating to any charity...currently it is hoped that they will consider
the 5th Anniversary Celebration.
I agree that the note could get cluttered...but so do other
notes...auctions tend to be confusing and that is part of the fun.
How the Silent Auction works in this format is at the discretion of the
Moderators. Hopefully it will accomplish several goals...a means of
recycling used items (books, cds, etc.), provide a source of $$$ to
events or charities, a glimpse at talents, and maybe even provide a
smile or two.

793.8 | JMHO | LEZAH::BOBBITT | Lift me up and turn me over... | Mon May 06 1991 13:47 | 10 |
| I like keeping the financial aspects of it out of the file. Maybe we
can have a grand total after a while of how much money has gone to
certain charities, but I think it's more "fun" just seeing what's
available, and keeping the financial aspects behind the scenes. I do
not want people who cannot afford things they want to feel slighted,
nor do I want any flavor of "competition" or "one-ups-person-ship" to
come out in the urge to WIN (or obtain) THE PRIZE (or object).

793.10 | *large* theater posters | TOOLS::SWALKER | Gravity: it's the law | Wed May 08 1991 23:30 | 21 |
|
I have some theater posters I'm putting up for grabs. They aren't new,
but they are in good condition and they're so nice I can't bear to
throw them away. They're HUGE (most are 3' x 6'), and most are in
2 pieces (they come that way); one appx. 4' long, and one appx. 2'
long. In the case of most of the posters, the long piece could easily
be hung alone. These are the sort of posters you'd see in a theater
lobby or train station billboard. Proceeds will go to defray the
expenses of the Womannotes 5th anniversary weekend. The following
posters are available:
Crimes of the Heart
Annie
Deathtrap
The Elephant Man
Evita
Send mail if interested.
