I have recently been to an electrolygist who uses a new technology called "Blend". This is a combination of the older technology of using short wave with long wave (as it was described to me). I have been going to electrologists on and off for 10 years permanently removing hair from my face as well as other parts of the body. This new technology is working very well for me and I wanted to share it. Any who have been to the older technology of the short wave know that it is short bursts of an electrical current. Depending on how thich the hairs are the amount of current is adjusted, the more coarse - the more current is needed. They electrologist might need to 'zap' it one, two or three times before the hair will come out easily with a pair of tweezers. The "Blend" is a bit different. It is not a 'zap' but a gradual increase in intensity starting with no feeling at all and graduating to full intensity at the end. Using this technique, the length of the time and also the intensity at the end of the time are what the electrologist can regulate. It definitely took a longer amount of time to work on a specific area with the Blend technology but it seems that the results are faster. As far as pain level is concerned I feel that the Blend is less painful. Its working for me, perhaps it will work for you! Judy

I've been switched over to the new 'blend' and it has worked a lot better for me also! I don't think it is all that painful compared to before! anna

Can someone explain this technique to me - is it permanent? how often do you have to get 'treated'? is it expensive? does it hurt much? Maureen

Electrolysis is the permanent removal of hair from various parts of the body. You can have any area removed, it all depends on your pain threshold. Hands and feet tend to be the most sensitive. Upper lip is also sensitive. As far as number of treatments, it all depends. I have been working on various parts of my body for 10 years. I first started with my upper lip and chin. At first I was going once a week for 1/2 hour. Then I dropped to every two weeks and then once a month until the hair was gone. I would say that it took me 9 months for the lip and chin to be void of any regrowth. I also dropped to 15 minute appointments. I have had my breasts done and also some hair around my belly-button. I did not have any done for a few years and within the last 3 months I have started to have my eyebrows done. I have had a total of 6 treatments so far and already I am down to once every 3 weeks for 15 minutes. The blend technique seems to be working better for me; less painful and working faster. Where I go, in Fitchburg Mass the rates are $15 for 15 minutes. When I lived in Hudson Mass it cost me $9 for 15 minutes, and it was the older technology. I hope this helps you, please send me mail if you would like. Judy

Has anyone tried the do it yourself ones you can buy in the store? Is is really better to have it professionally done? |
