550.0. "Marking Important Dates" by MOMCAT::TARBET () Thu Nov 22 1990 07:19

    As may be obvious to everyone by now :-) we try to mark important dates
    in the file "notice" banner. All sorts of important: natural
    (Solstices); tragic (Montreal), religious (Rosh Hoshanah), traditional
    (Hallowe'en), national (Guy Fawkes), political (Suffrage), parochial
    (our Anniversary). We don't necessarily want to fill up the entire
    calendar, but if a date is meaningful to more than a few of us, it'd be
    nice to mark it.

    We need help, however. We're all smart and well-educated (as well as
    good-looking, sexy, polished, suave, and modest :-) but we don't know
    all the dates by heart. For example, when's Pesach next year? Mothers
    Day in the UK? Are there Mothers Days elsewhere? What about women's
    suffrage in Switzerland? Girls Day in Japan? ...you can see our
    problem.

    Put in the important dates you know about...we'll do our best to
    incorporate them.

    Why is it significant that your daughter's birthday isn't the same as
    that of the author of .3?
