Time Magazine has just released a special issue called "Women: The Road Ahead." From the introduction by the editor: "As roughly half the world's population, women would hardly seem to need to struggle for attention. Yet struggle is precisely what they have been doing in the final decades of the 20th century. Their endeavors deserve no less a word than revolution - in expectations, accomplishments, self-realization and relationships with men. It is a revolution that, though far from complete, promises over time to bring about changes as profound for men and women as any that have occurred in Eastern Europe or the Soviet Union in the past year. It was in this context that we decided it was time to prepare an entire issue on women..." This special issue is being sent automatically to all subscribers and will be available on the newsstands for several weeks. After a very cursory review of the topics, it looks to be a fascinating piece. John P.S. I was going to just post this as a reply to the "In the News" topic, but I think this issue warrants its own topic.

I love the perceptiveness of their use of the word "revolution." I think it *will* take place, and it's not only men & women that will be affected, but children, war/peace, art, science, living on the earth. Can you imagine a place where no child is ever beaten, and a place where any woman can go in safety, anywhere/anytime she wants. Briana |
