I never thought of you as one of those 'Captital-F Feminists' before
either, Lorna. Pro-women's issues, yes, pro-men's issues, yes,
    	anti-male, no.

470.7'radical feminist' == unflinching -wm- issue activistCYCLST::DEBRIAEthe social change one...Mon Oct 22 1990 16:3612

Of course, different people probably have different definitions to the
label, but the way I've heard my female radical feminist friends use
"Capital-F feminist" (vs. 'radical feminist') is to describe someone who
believes that being a feminst and being anti-male are one and the same
    thing.

The male equivalent in men's issues circles are divorced men who are
bitter toward all women and think being a men's issues activist is
synonymous with being anti-female. Both are equally wrong.

I guess I missed whatever caused this, but I've always
thought that you wrote like a warm person who believed
    in both women and men.

re .10, "Sorry some men can upset you so."

How ironic, you've hit on one of the biggest problems of my life! :-)
(the fact that "some men can upset" me so...)

If I hadn't let one man upset me so, I wouldn't have even ever entered
    the note to begin with!!

Remember the Good Ol' Days? Kidding around about Motorcycle Mamas
    and stuff...??

*We* knew what you meant. It's always been a pleasure to note with
    you. It still is.

It's hard for me to understand how anyone with the slightest bit of
common sense, let alone sensitivity or good will, could suppose you to
be a man-hater, Lorna. Or a hater of anything else, either.

I'm glad I know you, gyn.

    Lorna,

In regards to being "upset", there are men out there that would
pay you good money for that kind of behavior. :-)

And don't forget, Dead men tell no tales.

470.16I SAW IT WITH MY OWN TWO EYES!NYEM1::COHENat least I'm enjoyin' the rideTue Oct 23 1990 15:5116
    Lorna,

I too agree with the last 15 or so notes...I don't think that you even
    had to enter this note....

But, and since this is as good a place as any for this type of
comment...I received my Literary Guild booklet for the month, and the
    feature selection was the following:

1001 USES FOR A DEAD HUSBAND

I swear this is the truth, and please, no one jump down my throat about
this....I'm just repeating what I saw!

Jill, I saw that book advertised, too, and had great fun speculating
what could be done with it and certain men and personnel and my
    favorite notes conference!

    Me, too, Lorna.

And I think we need to co-opt that capital F term. I want to be the
second to declare myself a bona fide capital F feminist.
