| I tend to use birthdays to look back and do kind of a personal
"performance review". Thirty was tough for me because I hadn't done a
lot of things I thought I SHOULD have done by then. Forty was a piece
of cake because the fruit of a lot of hardwork (personal and career
wise) had come to bear the year before my 40th birthday. I had a
little bit of trouble with 41. Was down and out of sorts for a week or
two before it. Finally realized that I was looking at the year and not
seeing that I had accomplished much, particualrly in comparison to the
year before. Once I realized what was bothering me I could put things
into perspective, laugh at myself and enjoy the double fudge cake my
friends bought me.
