| [before I start, could the person with the raspberry leaf addition, post
her concoction here?]
I have been fascinated with the relation that the mother's attitude may
have on the baby while still in the womb.
Four cases (my children):
While pregnant with Miranda, (two years before we decided to have number one;
a surprise at the time) we decided to enjoy it and be happy (we were 19 and
married for two and a half months when Joy conceived). Miranda was a happy
baby, is optomistic, and out-going.
While pregnant with Jessica, (3 months to conceive from when we decided to
have number two), we had stresses in our lives. Jessica is shy, had crying
fits at the drop of a hat in her early years, and is very sensitive.
While pregnant with Emily (11 months to conceive from when we decided to have
number three), I had just changed careers into High Tech, things seemed to
have gotten much better (out of school and all that). Emily is out-going,
intelligent (Joy and I played chess almost always during her pregnancy),
happy, and unique.
While pregnant with Andrew (conceived on the night she said "tonight is
a very good chance..."), things were a little hectic, but not the stress
of Jessica's pregnancy. Andrew is shy, sometimes impatient, very loving,
and happy.
Each of my children are different from the other. I know some of it has
to do with child positioning (second child) but I can't help but wonder
about the feelings, emotions, and attitudes that pass through the umbilical
cord and how it affects the child.
I've observed other mothers during and after pregnancies with (IMO) interesting
results.
Have any of you mothers/parents had these types of thoughts? Do you think
there is a significant bearing on the personality of the child from the
mother during gestation?

| Re: Mark,
Absolutely! Having had 7, I can strongly agree that my attitude
affected each of my children. The body does release various chemicals
according to stress levels, so I see no reason why attitudes would
not cause the body to react in different ways.
Now for maternity tips...
Pour boiling water over cinnamon sticks and steep. Add sweetner
if desired. Very good for nausea.
For those gawdawful leg/thigh/foot cramps...
Try antacid tablets--especially effective at bedtime.
