151.0. "SAFE, EVERLASTING RAZOR?" by FDCV07::HSCOTT (Lynn Hanley-Scott) Wed May 23 1990 16:54

I thought this probably belonged in a note separate from the note on
the dilemma to shave your legs or not.

With all the sensible recycle/conservation efforts going on, I figure
it's time to stop using disposable razors. What I would appreciate is
comments/suggestions for razors that won't cut my legs to ribbons (I
    probably will anyway :-)

Either get a chemical hair remover or an electric razor. If you insist
on having a razor with lather, I suggest that you buy a Gillette
Sensor. it is confortable and does and exceptional job.

Gillette's Atra has worked for me, for years.

I tried a Schick razor once. Only once. It went straight into
the trash, despite the fact that it was not a disposable razor.

I've been wondering why Gillette has aimed advertising strictly
towards men for the new Sensor razor. I don't think Gillette even
    markets a razor for women.

I just noticed in one of the local stores that Gillete has made the
Sensor for women, too! Maybe I'll give it a try....for my legs, of
    course!! #;-)

I bought Hugh a Freedom Blade shaver (a rechargeable razor that uses
blades like the Gillete Trac II). He used it for awhile and then I
became the owner of it. It works great in the shower for the pits
and the curves of the leg.

I seem to recall that buying something made for men for shaving
purposes does a better job and lasts longer than items "made for
a woman's delicate body". Why is that?? I never was impressed
    with any specially-made-for-women shavers.

    I have a Panasonic Wet/Dry razor - it's designed for women. It's battery
operated so you don't have to fuss with electric cords. It's also
waterproof and you can use it with lather, too. I only use it outside
the shower since I can't see without my contacts/glasses. I like it alot.
I use rechargeable batteries in it and need to recharge every 3-4
months (only use it once a week).

While in the States recently I (on info from Mennotes) purchased the
Sensor and PLENTY of refills because its not available in oz yet.

With trepidation I commenced on my legs (only coz new disposables are
great at nicks) lo and behold - its as great as everybody said. Not
one nick, smooth and easy and highly recommended. I use it with either
    liquid soap or foam.

Now, one for women, does that mean I have to come back to the States to
    try that one too (^'
