107.0. "Advice - thoughts to think about!" by ACE::MOORE () Thu May 03 1990 14:11

    Advice is what you get when your not going to get anything else.

    Giving good advice does not qualify as charity.

    A bit of advice: Say nothing often.

    Never give advice before you're asked - or after!

    It's a pleasure to give advice, humiliating to need it, normal to
    ignore it.

    When a person starts handing you alot of free advice, its pretty
    certain it wasn't worth keeping for his personal use.

    One of the most costly things anyone can acquire is free advice.

    The best things in life are free - also the worst advice.

    The person who gives you free advice is probably charging you too much
    for it.

    Free advice is the kind that costs you nothing unless you act upon it.

                                     Ray

107.2My father's advice :-)TOKNOW::METCALFEEschew Obfuscatory MonikersThu May 03 1990 15:165

  I always accept advice - I do not always follow it.

  Advice is often worth what you paid for it.
107.3Some tongue in cheek advice - no stones, pleaseTOKNOW::METCALFEEschew Obfuscatory MonikersFri May 04 1990 11:3712
More <tongue_firmly_in_cheek> advice from my dear father:

"Son, if you don't want to do the dishes, break a few and she'll never let
 you go near them again."

Whoa! Watch those rotten eggs! At least I disclosing what some men do
to perpetuate "Strategic Helplessness" (I don't know how to do that!) in
the home. I know I do as does Joy with certain tasks of which she is
very capable.

    From Uncle Russell:
    	      *	Stuck you once? Shame on him!
	      *	Stuck you twice? Shame on you!

    From Dear'ol Dad:
     	      *	People create 99% on their own problems

    From Grandma: (4' 5" tall)
    	      * It's not how big you are but what you can do that counts!

    From Mom:
    	      * Don't ever try to change anyone. They have want that change.
              * Never wear underwear with holes in it in case you have to
                  go to the hospital or something.

    Good advice is almost certain to be ignored, but that's no good reason
    for not giving it.
