Typically with PK's or sperm counts or even when getting the sample for
an AIH (artificial insemination with husband's sperm), it is recommend
that there be no ejaculation for 2 days prior to the test/sample. The
reason for this is to allow the sperm to regenerate. In the case of IUI
(intrauterine insemination), there usually aren't those restrictions
because the process used to wash and prepare the sperm forces the
healthy ones to the top, and those are the ones that are implanted.
Also, with IUI, since the sperm solution is concentrated and placed
directly in the uterus, there doesn't need to be as many sperm present.

    Does that answer your question?

If not here, there are notes in PARENTING about this. I had a laparoscopy
and something else (Shellie remembers these things; I don't). It was fine.
I was uncomfortable (read: in a little pain) for a couple/few days from all of
the gas in my shoulders (it goes there for a while then dissipates), but then I
was fine. It was wonderful for me; they found a cyst and drained it and I got
pregnant within 2 weeks!
