844.0. "Prochoice Mass. constitutional amend." by REORG::DARROW () Tue Oct 24 1989 18:39

I'm collecting petition signatures for the proposed prochoice
amendment to the Massachusetts constitution. This amendment
is supported by the Planned Parenthood Committee to Protect
Reproductive Freedom. The text of the amendment follows:

"The government shall not interfere with the fundamental right of
individuals to make personal reproductive decisions. Each individual
has the right to choose or refuse birth conrol. Each woman has the
right to choose or refuse abortion during the first 24 weeks of her
pregnancy or at any time to protect her life or health or in a case of
rape or incest. Nor shall government discriminate against the exercise
of these rights in regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, or
    services."

If you're a registered Massachusetts voter and would like to sign the
petitions to put the proposed amendment on the ballot, please contact
me. I work at TTB, so it's most feasible for me to collect signatures
from TTB and Spitbrook. If you're at another site, I suggest you call
Mark Sommer (at Campaign for Choice) at 617-492-0518. He might be able
to put you in touch with a signature-gatherer in your area.

If you're also collecting signatures, please enter your name and
location as a reply to this note.
