Well, folks, I guess this is goodbye.  I've been active in this conference
for several years now -- except lately, that is.  I got involved in a huge
proposal effort a few months ago, and had almost no time to note at all for
quite a while.  My batch job managed to collect some 15,000 blocks of =wn=
which I've sadly realized I'll never have time to read. 

Anyway, this is a goodbye note.  Steve and I are adopting a baby, which is 
due to be born November 20.  Yes, I was the one who entered all those 
anonymous blow-by-blow descriptions of our IVF attempts a while back. 
Well, that's behind us now and we're looking forward to becoming parents
very soon. 

After a great deal of soul-searching, fretting, and waffling, I've decided
to leave Digital and stay home with our little one.  My last day will be
September 29.  I fully plan to come back in a few years -- as I said in my
letter of resignation, after Digital I have no interest in working for any
other company.  But for now I need to concentrate on only one thing, and
that's being a mother. 

When I think about what I'm going to miss,  Digital itself isn't first and
foremost in my mind.  The people are.  It's absolutely mind-boggling to
think about the network of people we have in Digital: people to work with,
people to make friends with, people to get to know, people to ask for help,
people to receive help from.  WOMANNOTES is one of those forums, and I am a
better person for having known you folks for the past three years.  My view
of the world as a woman is very different from what it used to be, and I
have =wn= to thank for that.  You have provided support, entertainment, new
ideas, old ideas expressed in new ways, and I will miss you terribly.

    You're about to get into a most important job...being a mother and have
    a chance to bring a cute little human being into being a decent, honest
    and responsible adult...is no easy task but the most rewarding of all.
    It does need a full time effort.  good for you that you were able to

    Congratulations, Pat.  I certainly hope you'll find time to stay with
    us via your spouse's account (um, that is your spouse with the RESENDE
    accountname, right?) because otherwise how will we ever learn what's
    happening with you and your baby?

    Lucky you, my favorite smell is Johnson's Baby Powder on a freshly
    bathed baby snuggled under my chin.
    
    Of course, I had to bath J & J and use the powder myself cuz...powder
    is bad now.
