768.0. "Hormones RUN AMOCK!!??" by BUSY::DKHAN () Wed Aug 30 1989 12:28

    I don't think I have seen another note regarding this before,
    so here goes...

    I feel so screwed up! All of a sudden I feels like my hormones
    have gone crazy. My last period started 6 days early, lasted
    long enough to spot, and then quit again until the day it was
    supposed to start. I have been so bloated that I almost look
    pregnant! And now that my period is almost finished, my face is
    breaking out, and I am so crabby even I hate myself! All of this
    used to happen during the 2 weeks before my period. I am still
    bloated and crabby 2 weeks before, but now it continues on after-
    wards! When do I get a break?

    Now, I have to mention here that I have had 2 children in 2 years.
    My youngest is 9 months. After discovering that I was pregnant 2
    months after my first was born, I have become decidedly paranoid
    about becomming pregnant again. Can one be pregnant and still
    menstruate? Or the hormones playing tricks on me?

    Any advice or similar stories would be great support for me as
    my ob/gyn is out till Sept 19! Could it be diet? Or hormones? Or
    what?

    Thanks for letting me ramble!

    You can be pregnant, and still bleed. Spotting is common at
    implantation(about a week afdter fertilization, and before your
    period's due)--hence the spotting 6 days before.

    Some women do still bleed at the time their period's due, but usually
    not heavily.

    To be sure, get a blood test--the Medi Chek, Health Stop kind of place
    do them on a walki in basis, about $25, if you can't reach your doctor.

768.2pointers - see 273 in this file and...LEZAH::BOBBITTinvictus maneoWed Aug 30 1989 14:3315
    I looked for anything relevant to PMS (whose symptoms you seem to
    have, although obviously more than usual), mood swings, hormonal
    imbalances, and came up with the following pointers to other notesfiles:

768.3Who covers?ULTRA::WITTENBERGSecure Systems for Insecure PeopleWed Aug 30 1989 14:397
    Your doctor should have someone who covers for him until he
    returns. If this continues, call his office, and explain that you
    can't wait three weeks. You may not feel as comfortable with a new
    doctor, but sometimes you can't wait. I don't know if this is that
    serious, but do consider it.

768.4not to sound scary but....EPIK::MELBINThu Aug 31 1989 09:454
*sometimes* early bleeding can be a sign of a tubal pregnancy - I thought I
wasn't pregnant at all but I was wrong. and i should have known - classic
symptoms of morning sickness, bloating, etc, but the bleeding thru me off.
See a doctor to be sure.
768.5I would see a doctor, but -TLE::RANDALLliving on another planetThu Aug 31 1989 14:257
    It's possible that your hormones are just screwed up from the recent
    pregnancy.

    It was a full four years after my second was born before my cycles
    settled down to regularity and PMS-like symptoms went away.

768.6Shock to the system...BUSY::DKHANFri Sep 01 1989 10:189
    Thanks for your help everyone. I know I'm not pregnant. I had
    a test. I suppose 2 babies in 2 years might have been a shock
    to the system.

    Someone else mentioned that they had the same symptoms and the doctor
    said it was a virus that was going around. Anyone alse heard of
    this?

768.7I'd love a baby...STKAI2::LJUNGBERGAnn Ljungberg, ISSun Oct 08 1989 19:074
    but here's from someone who's scaaaaaared... do you mean it's really
    possible to be pregnant if you have had your period two times in a
    row...

768.8SSDEVO::GALLUPgo ahead...make my day!Sun Oct 08 1989 19:2314

	 Wow....interesting....I just re-read this note....I've been
	 having these same "symptoms" since I had my cryo over a month
	 ago.....My doctor has REPEATEDLY asked me if I was pregnant
	 and I have repeatedly told him I'm not.....(immaculate
	 conception?) :-)

	 Could you tell us a little more about your doctor said?

	 thanks
