722.0. "Goodbye" by 2EASY::PIKET (compiling...) Sun Jul 30 1989 17:41

After 6 months of soul searching and six months of planning,
I'll be leaving Digital as of August 11 and moving back to New York in
September to pursue music full-time. Yes, that's right. I'm going to
    become a starving artist.

I want to thank _all_ the people who note in this file. It's certainly
been an education. I am especially happy I got to meet many of you in
person. That, too, was an education. :^) There are certainly some
terrific people at DEC. I wish all of you a fulfilling life.

If any of you are in NY, please keep in touch. If you would like
my address, please send e-mail, and I'll drop you a line when I
    get settled.

On a more mercenary note, I will be at the Copley Plaza Bar playing
solo piano, subbing for a friend, August 7 and August 14. I'd love to
meet or re-meet any of you who have time to come down.

Again, thanks for all the interesting noting.

What a rotten thing to see first thing on a monday morning.

Now that I've gotten my selfish response out of the way, I wish you all
the best, Roberta...even if it is jazz you're addicted to :-) We will
miss you around here, and I suspect DEC will be poorer for losing you.

    Best luck, lady.

All beginning artists need to starve a little, so that when they
become really rich and famous, they will know what it means to have
to cook their oatmeal on a single burner stove.

So when you get rich and famous, perhaps you can set aside a fund
to supply oatmeal to those who are trying to follow in your footsteps.

I admire your bravery and belief in yourself. I wish for you the
    best of everything.

What? No more fights with Roberta? Talk about a let-down. :-)

Good luck, and may your talents prevail. See you in Newport in a few years
or what?

When you have the soul of an artist you can't say no to
it for very long and stay sane.

Best of luck - and all that Jazz.

    I'll miss you Roberta.

There is a line in a Grateful Dead song that goes, "I cannot forgive
you if you will not take a chance" thats life talking to all of us...
if we're going to do it at all then we might as well do it right_:-).

Looks like this file is losing its jazz pianist...	:-(

Good luck. I hope New York treats you well. Get a recording career as soon
as you can; I'd like to hear your stuff some day...

Congratulations, Roberta, and best wishes. As I'm beginning to
plan a similar move, I find your decision inspirational.

P.S. Here's hoping that starvation isn't part of the show; I've
never found that losing meals was *necessarily* a boon to composition. . .
