| Try DCU. My experience has been that credit unions are more helpful
in this arena than banks, largely because they can get payment by
deduction from your paycheck.
One word of caution: if you're trying to build your credit, you'd
be better off with an arrangement where you have to write a check
to make the payment. A payroll deduction is not considered to be
a good indication of your credit responsibility level, at least
that's what "they" used to say.
Just my $.02,

I think temporary & contract people are allowed to have an account in DCU.
You can also have an account in DCU if someone in your family has an
account.

16 years ago, I became single and thus was without ANY creidt in MY
name although I had paid a lot of the bills. I started small before
my need was great. I borrowed $200 for 6 months. Put it in savings
and a month later paid off the note. Over the years I have borrowed
larger sums some were needed some were not - just like VISA I would
only put on the card what I could pay off in full, but it built credit.
Now, I've got more credit than I want or need. Weekly someone else
offers credit. At the time I was a school teacher making $5500 per
year and I was told that I could not qualify for VISA as my salary was
too low. I raised pure old h*ll and got my card on the basis that if
the state could trust me to teach their kids surely I was capable of
using a credit card .... the bank and I went round and round for 6
months. I still have my Florida Visa Card even though I have not lived
in Fla. since 1976 I want the unbroken chain of credit. No more will I
ever be in a position to be told that as an individual I had no credit.
I would suggest starting with a small loan and working up. The cruel
part of it is that When you NEED money, the banks vanish; when you
aren't desparate, they knock on your door. Also in many states there
are credit unions that are for just regular people - not associated
with a specific company. In Maine we have the St. Augustine Credit
Union, I don't use it - but it is there. They are to be found in most
states and often are relatively small so that you are a person to them
and not a cipher.
Good luck.

| I am a temporary employee and I am allowed to use the credit union.
I think they require you open a savings account with them before
or at the time you apply for the loan. I've never had a loan with
them, but I do have a savings account.
You might want to ask personnel if you are entitled to use them.

| Beware of the %%%% that they will charge. Usually, they charge 2-5%
more for a Personal Note than say for a car. Also if it is unsecured
(nothing they can take from you like a car if you default), the
% will be even higher.
There are also Demand Loans. In these you just promise to pay them
back the intrest, you decide when to pay on the principal. These
can be dangerous for obvious reasons, but I have used them in the
past. You must be deciplined!
