Before you stick the Savings and Loan disaster on the Reagan/Bush
people, you might want to look a Mr Jim Wright. He had a major hand
in blocking the Justice and FBI investigations of Texan S&L's while
he was speaker. His book ethics are questionable, but for this he
    should have gone to jail!

680.3Make that the government then.HKFINN::STANLEYWhat a long, strange trip its beenWed Jul 05 1989 12:168

You are correct. Make that the political system's Savings and Loan
scandal. It no longer seems to be that one political party is
involved in scandal, fraud and influence selling. They both are
involved up to their ears. The system is a mess, it's way out of control

680.4A common source of many of today's problems.HKFINN::STANLEYWhat a long, strange trip its beenWed Jul 05 1989 13:5828

There is a reason for that Marge. Americans, indeed all of the world's
people, share the same source for their individual problems... that source
appears to be government.

The right of the gun owners to bear arms is under siege by the government.

The right of women to choose is under attack by government.

The tax payer pours money into government programs, only to have well
connected politicians use that money as gifts for the rich and influential
(HUD).

The tax paying citizen pays for the theft of bankers (the Savings and Loans),
and the pollution and mistakes of business (Exxon Valdez oil spill).

The veteran (mostly the Vietnam Viet of course) is losing his health
benefits as the government cuts back on legitimate spending.

The poor are getting poorer, and the children are badly neglected,.

The health and educational systems are a mess.

We Americans share a common problem... it is the government. We must act
together.

Mary

... where I've just hidden several notes, pending possible deletion.
Advocating/organizing a boycott is not an appropriate use of Digital
    resources, in my opinion.

I have hidden the basenote because at present its language violates our
    policy against soliciting.
