I caught the show last night...Steve Martin introduced
a taped skit that he and Gilda had done...it was,
of course, hillarious...as the audience applauded
her memory, the camera caught Martin in a losing
battle with his own grief...a real pro, he stood
his ground and fought back his tears.

Me, I was sitting in bed cuddeld up with the guy
         I love...I could cry, and I did.

| | Gilda Radner was my very favorite comedienne. It's a tragedy that
the cancer wasn't caught in time. Wasn't she married to Gene Wilder?
    Did she leave any children?

battle with the disease. I thought she was beating it. I cried, too.
    Great comedienne!
    I'm sad.

She was a funny lady. She died so young. I bet her
    husband felt bad.

It's odd how things happen like Lucille Ball Dies
    and now Gilda...

It's nearly impossible to catch ovarian cancer "in time", since
there are no early-detection tests available. It's a swift and silent
killer with few warning symptoms and little hope for survival once
it's discovered. It's a rare disease occurring in only 1% of the
    female population.

Gilda must have been very strong to continue the fight against such
odds. I read that she'd written a book since her illness,
    appropriately entitled "It's Always Something....".

    Hi Judy,

Thanks for the enlightenment. But I would hardly cause a disease
rare if it affects 1 out of 100 women. I'd call that very high
    statistics for any disease.

I'd like to read Gilda's book. Do you know if it's been released
    yet and who publishes it?

| | I cried too! My boyfriend was watching TV and saw a whole thing
on Gilda....asked me what was going on, and the first thought I
had was...oh my god, she died...sure enough, that was the case.

She was married to Gene Wilder, and it was he who decided to stop
making movies (3 year hiatis) while Gilda was fighting her
cancer....Ironic that the day Wilders new film is released, Gilda
    dies.

I saw the Sat. Night Live with steve Martin, and I cried like a
baby....I cried when I heard the news about Lucy too.!

Thanks Gilda.....you made me laugh! Nothing could be a better gift
    to give the world!

    I'm gonna miss her!

| | Gilda's book is due to hit the bookstores sometime next week. I
have heard the publisher is Simon & Schuster (sp?). They are expecting
    an instant best-seller.

I heard the news last Sat. A.M. while driving and listening to WAAF
on my FM dial. After the announcement, they played a classic Emily
Littela(sp?) piece. I laughed so hard that I cried. Then, I just
    cried.

Good-bye to Emily, Roseanne, Lisa and Judy (Does anyone remember
Judy Miller the wack-o Brownie?) and any others I might have missed,
    and will miss.

Does anyone remember "Gilda--Live on Broadway?" There were two
songs from that show: one about animals and the other about kissing
with the lights on, or with your clothes on...Can anyone help my
    memory on this????

    Thanks.
