592.0. "The Greenhouse Effect and the world food supply" by HKFINN::STANLEY (What a long, strange trip its been) Fri May 12 1989 13:17
After warnings from many governments, scientists and scientific
agencies, most of us are aware that the Greenhouse Effect is
thought to be upon us.
Today Washington released a story about U.S. wheat production
being estimated at a ten year low. Winter wheat is planted in
the fall and harvested the following summer. It makes up about
three-fourths of total U.S. wheat production.
Are we in for some years of famine? Will the Greenhouse Effect
significantly impact the world's food supply? Who will be hit
first and hardest? And most importantly,... what can we do to
help?
Any thoughts on the subject?
