    	Hello,
    
    	I did a dir/title=   but found no note pointing child support
    	payments and dealing with the family probation courts. Where
    	do I start....Right now I am so mad I almost went to note
    	5. but then I decided to ask for some help.
    	Now, I recieve my child support check through the family probation
    	court in New Jersey, that's where I am from.  Over the past
    	5 count'em 5 years I have not once recieved the cheks on time.
    	I chose not to change my address when I moved to New Hampshire
    	Because I had so much trouble getting my check through one office
    	let alone two, so I changed my address to my mother's and she
    	sends it up to me when she gets it. 
        Now, because I always have so much trouble wiht getting my check
    	I had made sure that my husband's EX always recieved her check
    	on time, but through choosing of her own she asked the court
    	for a wage attachment and it is now going through the probation
    	court in Cambridge. Ready here's the problem........
    
    	My husband works in the construction buisness and did not get
    	a paycheck last week due to no work.  I asked him what were
    	we going to do about the support payment and he said he would
    	talk to his employer. ( BTW he had work this week ) His employer
    	told him to call the probation office and they would tell him
    	what to do. ( When we recieved the notification of wage attachment
    	it told us to NEVER send a personal check! )  I have tried all
        day yesterday and all day today to get through to the case worker
    	and have been told he is not available!!!! I explained to the
    	girl I was not inquiring about a check but that we were the
    	payee, she could not care less.  She told me that I could leave
    	a message but that the man would probably not call me back!
    	Needless to say I am furious. I told her that I see a potiential
    	problem here and that I am trying to resolve it. Again she could
    	not have cared less!  I asked for a supervisor and was told
    	no one was there, they were in a meeting.  I asked when I could
    	get in touch with this case worker and she said he was out to
    	lunch ( that was 1:00 ) and that he would not be back before
    	3!!!!!!!!!! No wonder the case load is heavy.
    
    	Any suggestions???

	I wish I could offer something positive but...in all of my dealings with the Cambridge family probate, I have found them to be toatally useless. I've been trying to get them to help me straighten out a debt from 4 years ago. One thing I can tell you is to make sure you get the name of the person you are speaking to on the phone just incase the computer flags that your husband missed a payment. That way you can say you talked to Ms./Mr. so & so to try and straighten it out. The last time I called them I asked for the probation officer handling our case and he was long gone. No one seemed to know who took over for him. And the woman on the phone was correct, they probably will never call you back.

	A suggestion, you can send a registered letter, return receipt requested both to the court and to your husband's ex informing them of the problem. Then you have proof that you tried to contact the people and explain what happened. Bonnie

	Well, Just to update you. I finally got in touch with the man who was handeling my husbands case. He was extremely rude and told me he does not deal with "Third parties!" I explained that my husband was on a construction job and was unable to call. He was not even listening to what I had to say and very unprofessionally and rudely said , after my explaination of our problem,to me " If he didn't work you can't get blood out of a stone lady!" With the patients of a saint I calmly told him that I was NOT inquiring about a payment, I was the NEW wife and what should my husband do. (Total change of tone ) Oh well he has to send a certified check with his social security # the week of payment and who the payment goes to. I said " how come when you thought I was asking for a payment, you just about told me too bad and when you found out I was the payee I now HAVE to send a payment?" He ignored the question and said to put my complaints in writing the next time, and hung up. I love State offices! I was approximatley 18 months behind on recieving my own payments about two years ago, so I know how it feels. I was only trying to stop a problem before it started. So much for being the nice "guy". Thanks for all the suggestions, and I have the record of the certified check, so hopefully there won't be a problem. Cathy

	grrrrrrr What a bunch of jerks. Nice that they feel free to be rude if they think you're inquiring about money coming to you--money that's rightfully yours! Good for you for doing the right thing despite all the jerks. -Tracy

	Why is the EX pulling this now? Have there been problems in the past? Is she perhaps leading up to a request for more money? Does she have a new friend/husband who is giving her ideas? If she is the kind of person who can be reasoned with, perhaps you or your husband should try to explain to her that by going through the courts she's just cutting her nose to spite her face. FYI, the District Court in Waltham is no better. My Ex's probation officer told me to go on Welfare!

	RE: 5 Thanks! RE: 6 I tried to tell his Ex that the probation office is a big hassle , that I had so much trouble with my probation office, and she said ( she is always so nice ;') " This isn't New Jersey you know!" So I'll just do what I am supposed to do and let her worry about getting her money. It's her problem now! Cathy

	The sad part about going through the courts is that you do so because someone along the line tells you your support payments will be guaranteed. Not so... I went through the courts because my EX wasn't paying on time or sometimes not at all. They still wouldn't help me collect what was due my daughter. She died of Cystic Fibrosis four years ago and two years after her death, the probate sent me a letter asking if I wanted help collecting back support. I replied yes and told them what I was actually owed (less than what they thought)... Two years since then and I still haven't heard anything. And I just LOVE those snappy little answers like, "go on welfare". GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

	re .7. At least you've tried. When she phones (and she will.. it will get messed up royally) tell her sweetly "It's out of our hands." re .8. You have my sympathy.
