512.0. "Hairdressers in Acton/Maynard/Concord?" by BUFFER::WALTON (Talkin' 'bout revolution.....) Mon Mar 20 1989 16:52

Can anyone suggest a good hairdresser in the Acton, Concord, Stow
area?

The last time I picked someone out of the yellow pages, I ended up
looking like a blond Marlo Thomas kewpie doll from the 60's!

I have longish hair and I would really like to find
someone who's good at stylish cuts!

Thanks

Victoria
(who is tired of driving to Cambridge for a hair cut!)

I have used A Cut Above West in West Action for 5 years now. I have
always been pleased, no matter which person did my hair. They will
consult with you, and take their time to make sure they understand
what you want. They're also good at finding styles (lots of current
books and magazines) if you don't know exactly what you want. It's
on 111, between Cresent St. and Rt. 27.

I go to W. Michael Benedict in Sudbury (at Mill Village).
Richard, who does my hair normally, is the best hairdresser that
I have ever had. He also does my stepdaughter's hair and she
    feels the same way.

One time when Richard was out, I had someone else do my hair and
it came out fine that time too. Michael (the W. Michael Benedict)
is also fantastic but has so many regular clients that he rarely
    takes on new ones.

Whenever I've been there, I've never seen anyone go out with looking
    bad.

They are not inexpensive but, if you usually go into Cambridge,
you are probably used to that.

    I'd recommend them to anyone.

I've been going to the Look of Elegance on Main St. in Maynard.
Cathy has been cutting my hair for five years. I used to wear
my hair short, but I'm now wearing it long, and I have never
been unhappy with any haircut I've gotten from Cathy. She was
especially good during the "growing out" stage from short to long.

I've also had several perms ... and their prices are reasonable.

If Cathy is not available, ask for Anne. BTW, Cathy and Anne are
    the owners.

Stacy at "The Stylist" (rte. 2A in Acton, in the Triple A mall)
has her act together. As testimony, I can only say that if it
wasn't for her, I'd have to resign myself to answering a Sy
    Sperling ad. . .
