507.0. "ob-gyn who KNOWS DES" by SARAH::MELBIN () Thu Mar 16 1989 14:55

Can anyone tell me if there is a gyn in the Nashua area which knows about
DES exposed women? I don't mean she/he's heard of it, but actually knows
about what complications, problems, etc arise from DES, and can effectively
deal with a person so exposed.

(DES is a drug which was given to women who had experienced spontaneous abortions.
It was supposed to prevent this and be 'safe'. Needles to say, it has resulted
in a huge number of people affected, the DES-daughters and DES-sons)

thanks,
julie

    I don't have a specific doctor to recommend, but I think that if
    you call RESOLVE, they will be able to recommend someone. I only
    have the phone numbers for Massachusetts, but they should be able
    to point you in the right direction. National RESOLVE headquarters
    is located in Arlington, MA. The phone number is 617-332-2579.
    For medical information/referrals, these are the people to contact:

    Western MA: Lynn Musacchio (Dalton) 413-684-1669
    Central MA: Debbie Del Dotto (Shrewsbury) 508-842-5093
                  or Ann Derderian (Worcester) 508-362-5889
    Boston Metro: Teri Sousa (Somerville) 617-776-7404
    North Shore: Mary Peart (Manchester) 508-526-4141
    		  or Ann Roussell (Burlington) 617-273-2926

    Since DES is a frequent concern/problem of people who are dealing
    with infertility, I think that RESOLVE should be able to give you
    a good recommendation for someone in your area who knows about DES.

507.2reply to my own note :)SARAH::MELBINThu Mar 23 1989 10:1617

After some help from =wm= folks, and others, I have found some information and
thought I would put it here just in case:

There is a DES clinic at Beth Israel Hosp. in Brookline, Ma. which I believe
is headed by a Dr. Lewis Burke. (If he's not the head, here's there at least)

In addition, there is a DES Action group which is sending me information. Here
is the address:

	DES Action
	p.o. box 126
	Stockton, Ma 02072

From the ZIP code, I believe the town is Stoughton, not Stockton.
