500.0. "How do you tell your co-workers that you are pregnant" by SARAH::KEARNS () Tue Mar 14 1989 10:16

I informed my project leader and project manager that I was pregnant at
3 months. I had asked them to keep it to themselves which they did.

Now that it is later (5 months), should my co-workers be told directly?
I have not worked with these folks for very long.

It may come up in the next staff meeting, ie. people and projects.

Or I could just wear a maternity top, to do this it needs to be slightly
warmer. I did not buy winter clothes.

I also told my managers that I was pregnant early on since I was
not feeling well a lot of the time and knew I might be late
occasionally. I asked them not to tell my co-workers and they
    kept it to themselves.

When I was ready to let my co-workers know, I began by telling
those I was most comfortable with and let them know it was okay
to let others know. I generally got a very positive reaction
from everyone. Word spread pretty quickly in my group and I
didn't have to tell everyone myself ... I was kind of low on
energy and it worked out well.

re .0: well now you've put it in here the chances are your co-workers
    know. :-)

Incidentally congratulations on being the author of the 500th note.

One of my co-workers put it on her slide as "GOALS FOR NEXT PERIOD".

It was at our weekly team meeting. It was a surprise but went over
    well.

    The slide said something like:
   GOALS FOR NEXT PERIOD:

    *	Baby due in Q4 FY 89

    *	Baby's initials will NOT be DEBNA (project name)

    *	Please, no horror stories about pregnancy

    *	Trying to bring in schedule

of DEC, ask Carol duBois for a copy of her son's on-line birth

I too, told my manager at 2-3 months and asked him to keep it in
confidence. At 5 months I was feeling good again, and wanted
to share the news. So on a Monday morning I brought in Donuts
for my unit so they could celebrate with me. That's how I
    spread the news.

not known by the person filling out the blanks for us)...

500.10Field Service Bug ReportMISFIT::SCHLITZERMMary AnnFri Apr 14 1989 16:0116
Field Service hot line solves unknown software bug ....

One of our customers (a good friend) asked their field service rep how
I was doing, letting the cat out of the bag. The rep being the
concerned person he is realizes he has not seen me around the
office and inquires to my whereabouts but nobody seems know (I work out
of the office at customer sites quite often, but this time
I was at training for 2 weeks, and my unit knew it, but try to find
    them).

Last upon my return I was congratulated by everyone I passed,
the first one said "I hear congratulations are in order and shakes
my hand". We were both embarrassed when I had to ask him what happened
while I was gone to be congratulated about!
