I received the following letter from the Women's Center of Cambridge.
Regional meetings like this are going on all over the US. Anyone
interested in participating may want to contact me for further info.
================================================================

Greetings!

You may have heard or read the articles in GCN and Sojourner that there
are plans in the making for a _National Lesbian Conference_ slated for
Spring or Fall 1990. The efforts for this began with women in Upstate
New York after the National Lesbian and Gay March on Washington. Six
women from the Boston area attended a meeting about the conference in
New York City early in January. They were, in fact, the only women from
New England in attendance.

Now the effort is underway in the Boston area and in New England to
organize. Both the conference agenda and its goals are in formative
stages. This is the time to name our goals and the issues we in Boston
think should be part of a national lesbian agenda. Local organizing is
beginning with this letter which is being sent to over two hundred
individuals and organizations.

Talking about this since the New York meeting it is clear that many
women think that this Conference has exciting possibilities. Many of us
are active in other kinds of groups/organizing, yet we seldom have the
opportunity to come together as lesbians to discuss our experiences or
address our concerns.

The organizing for this conference provides an opportunity, like the
March on Washington, for our DIVERSITY to be visible and powerful.

THE FIRST MEETING TO CONVENE A LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE
_NATIONAL LESBIAN CONFERENCE_ WILL BE

			SUNDAY MARCH 19, 1989
			    ROOM 802
			BOSTON CITY HALL
			4:00 PM - 6:30 PM
(Congress St. entrance, across from Faneuil Hall, ground level)

Please mark your calendars and come or send someone from your
organization. Please copy this letter and share it; please announce
this meeting at lesbian gatherings. For more infomration call 661-2064.
If you are unable to attend but would like to attend future meetings,
watch the calendar pages of GCN and Sojourner.

Yours truly,

Libby Bouvier, Marla Erlien, Tess Ewing, Margaret Cerullo, Jan Puibello,
Ann Holder and Peggy Lynch
