320.0. "Womannotes T-shirts for Sale" by RAINBO::TARBET () Wed Nov 30 1988 18:14

Since the first round of tshirts was such a resounding success, we'll
have another go, for delivery sometime in spring (or earlier if there
are enough orders placed quickly enough).

Please place your orders as replies to this basenote. You can send
them to me by mail but I'd much rather you didn't unless you're willing
to presume that they can get lost. But whatever you do, *please* don't
send them to Justine this time, she's already done far more than her
share of work sorting out the first lot!

    Details:

Type:	Haynes 100% cotton "Beefy Tees".

Sizes:	Men's Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, and XXLarge

Colors: basic colors are Black and Wild Orchid (a rather nice,
strong lavender). Other colors available according
to interest (we need to order in blocks of 12 shirts
of a single size and color): Red, Medium Blue, Pink,
Ochre, Green, White, possibly others. Because of the
need to order in blocks, please be as flexible in your
color choices as you can be.

The selection of colors in XXL is, unfortunately, very
limited, and it's possible that we'll have to try to
work out some special solution to meet our needs. We
only know we can get Black, Red, and White.

The design is printed in either black or white according
to which gives the better contrast.

Design:	A circle with lettering around the outside edge.
"WOMAN OF NOTE" in large, bold letters around the top,
"Connecting With Other Women All Over The World - By
Computer" in medium letters around the bottom, and in
small letters, also around the bottom, "FOUNDED 18th APRIL
1986 :: WOMANNOTES - TOPICS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN :: OVER
1000 ACTIVE MEMBERS". Inside the circle, a stylised
flower design made up of abstract figures of women with arms
    		raised and fingers touching.

The men's version has the same design but with a (very
obvious and readable) line above the design saying "ANOTHER
MAN WHO SUPPORTS EACH [WOMAN OF NOTE]"

    Cost:	$10.- each
(We found that our original price of $9 was really too
low...we barely squeeked by! Pricing them at $10 will
allow us some fractional cushion against price increases
    		and other eventualities)

320.1A question for shirt-buyersRAINBO::TARBETWed Nov 30 1988 18:3815
There is a substantial disparity in income across the women members of
our community. Those who work as secretaries (e.g.) typically have
something less than 66% of the income of those women who work as (e.g.)
engineers or writers. This disparity makes $10 for a tshirt look very
    different to different women.

I would like your opinion (by email, please, not here) of the idea that
those of us who can do so without pain should elect to pay more (say
$12-$16) for our shirts so that women holding down secretarial and
other underpaid jobs can, via rebate, give maybe $8 rather than $10 for
theirs. It seems fair to me, but I haven't really thought it through
yet and it might be completely unworkable; I would be grateful for your
    insights.

Speaking of the T-Shirts, thanks Mez for getting it out to me, it's my main
work-out shirt now...

And another thing, hey THANKS!!!! I'm so glad that it's finally being
recognized that women don't need to be drawn with huge breasts and skirts! ;-)
My body for once actually resembles a depiction of a woman!!!! ;-)
