--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to find a long-line backless bra. I have looked in the major
chains in the malls, but can't find my size (36-38 c). I am getting
pretty desparate, as I need it to wear with my wedding dress, and
the wedding is next Saturday. If any one knows of a place to get
one in the greater Boston area, please try to send me mail
(Psyche::Blanchard), as I don't know if I will have much time to
note in the next few days.

    Thanks, very, very, much,

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I suggest that you look for a corsett shop and not in a major
department store. Department stores only stock things that are
quick turnover items, small shops are more apt to have the slow
    moving items.

Try lingerie specialty shops too. I'm roughly the same size
and I found nothing in the department stores. Also try
Frederick's of Hollywood. (I know it's tacky but they
might have something you could use.)

Also Victoria's Secret. They have a store in the Burlington Mall
I think. I have seen them in the catalogs and you can Federal Express
    stuff from there.

I've had good luck at "Lady Grace". They have stores in Lowell,
Boston (Back Bay), and Braintree (South Shore Plaza). They carry
a variety of strapless longline bras.

Holy Hosiery, Batwoman! Apparently the Ladyslipper (music) mailing
list gets around, for what should appear in my mailbox yesterday
but another catalog from a North Carolina women-owned/oriented mail
    order retailer.

This one is called Travis Place (Carol Place, Pres.) They deal in
natural-fiber clothing; the lion's share being underwear, but lots
of other items as well. I have no basis for commenting on the
selection, but the catalog seems notable to me for two things:
models who look like real people, and dreadful or wonderful puns
depending on your inclination (the pages that have socks and gloves
    are headlined "Digital Equipment" !!)

    Travis Place, Inc.
    P.O. Box 2915
    Durham, NC 27705

I'd be happy to interoffice mail the catalog to the first person
    to send me their mailstop.

Another vote for Travis Place (I think the other partner is named
Ms. Travis). The catalogs are great, and I like their products too.

I agree with going with the specialized lingerie stores. I have
found the Lady Grace chain to be great -- if they don't have
something you need in stock, the rep pulls from another store,
and you have it in a couple of days.

Jordan's or Filene's on Washington Street in Boston also have much
    larger stock than Mall stores.

My daughter got a bra similar to the one you describe in a local
(Nashua) store called Miller's. There are a couple of different
kinds; a corselette pinches your waist, has garters, and requires
that you wear stockings. The long-line bra stops at the waist.

    Good Luck!

236.4The Corset ShopLEZAH::BOBBITTgot to crack this ice and fly...Fri Oct 07 1988 14:327
The Corset Shop on Mainstreet in Worceser has all sizes/styles (but
they don't have TOO much of the really spicy stuff). Also, they're
very helpful in making sure you get the right fit/style. Filenes
has always been a fave of mine, too.

236.5sport bra?DOODAH::RANDALLBonnie Randall SchutzmanTue Oct 11 1988 15:006
I need a recommendation for a sport bra that does NOT work by
compressing the breasts -- one that has full cups. I've used the
Jogbra for a couple of years, and if I wear it for more than a few
minutes, my breasts become painful from the squeezing.

Hi Bonnie,

Formfit Rogers has a great sport bra. It gives lots of support and is
wicked comfortable (no squashing). I bought mine several years ago,
but unfortunately haven't been able to find them recently. (Though I
admit to not having looked very hard.)

Does anyone know of stores that carry this brand?

Bonnie, if you're successful, please post information here.

Jenny
236.7Try Sears Roebuck!!PARITY::DDAVISTHINK SUNSHINETue Oct 11 1988 17:0510
    Bonnie,

I just bought a sport bra in Sears Roebuck, and it's great. It comes
in all the usual bra sizes. And it has adjustable straps, not the
stretchy ones...I like this one and NO squashing or squeezing. The
    cost was $10.50.

If you're interested, I'll check the style number.

LILYETTE (SP) sold at Jordan Marsh makes a pertty good sports bra.
I have never worn one but my daughter, who is a horse woman and
very well endowed, finds them very comfortable and supportive.

I'm posting this for a friend

REALLY!! :-)

Having perused the stock of Victoria's Secret, my friend has
decided that she wants something racier. Does anyone know an
Undercoverwear seller. (Undercoverwear, for those of you who
don't know, is sold at parties a la Tupperware).

Please E-mail me, so we don't violate any DIGITAL policies about
advertizing.

Thanks,

RE: .9-.11

Thanks to all who sent me referrals. I've sent them on to my
friend -- what she does with them after that is her business.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond -- it must have been too
much eggnog (I make it from scratch with *real* everything :-)
