201.0. "Who or what would you be for a night?" by WMOIS::B_REINKE (As true as water, as true as light) Thu Sep 22 1988 22:33

Today when I got home from work I found a charming invitation
to a party from a couple who are about to celebrate 90 years
of birthdays (she will be 50 and he 40!) They want us to
come as *someone* or *something* that we've always desired
to be. I found the idea so charming that I thought I would
throw it out to the file.

If you could go to a party dressed as someone or something
you always wanted to be what would it be?

    Bonnie

(p.s. just to be sure there is no confusion, I'm not looking
for ideas for myself, if anyone feels like suggestions please
do so by mail :-) Thankyou)

You mean, besides rich and famous?

Leonardo da Vinci is my idol; I suppose it's fair to say that I'd
like to be him. (I wouldn't like to *have been* him; I'm too fond
    of all our modern conveniences.)

Couldn't it be more than one party? I'd like to be Nofretete one
day, then a witch, Rosa Luxenburg, Madame Pompadour, a tree, a cat,
an angel (HA!), a devil, a cowgirl (in the sand)....ad infinitum.
My favourite would probably be the witch (I've done it for a party
last year) - just because there's so many differrent ways to be
    one. And Lady Macbeth.

in re Welsh and Galadriel... I think that Galadriel was beyond
our earthly tribal gatherings...being an elf that lived in the
'blessed lands' before the rising of the sun. But, if I had to
pick a part of my Welsh/Scots/Irish/English ancestry..I guess
I'd think the elves were Welsh.

probably because they live in a small kingdom, we know little
about them, and they speak a complex and unusual language.
