Try BETHE::SOAPBOX_1988, but be sure to be wearing asbestos
    garments.

Hit the Select key or KP7 to add it to your notebook.

In a rash and futile attempt to dispel the SOAPBOX stereotype:

SOAPBOX is a not a place to go to verbally abuse people. SOAPBOX
is a place to go for discussion. Discussion can (and frequently
will) get uninhibited. No one is going to protect your sensibilities.
Name-calling, personal attacks, and all sorts of conversational
irrationalities are perpetrated there. However, that is NOT the
sole purpose of SOAPBOX. It is merely an aspect of noting there.

Oddly enough, we have some very intelligent and rational discussions.
We also have some really childish encounters. Frustration and scorn
and pettiness are common, but out-and-out hostility is rare. So,
if you want to participate in SOAPBOX, great. You'll see a lot
of discussion about society and current events. I think of it as
a giant cocktail party, only without the bar. But realize that,
if someone thinks you said something stupid, they're going to tell
you. SOAPBOX is real life and real people - so it ain't always
    pretty.

Chelsea has made some really good points about soapbox. I have
been following it for over two years. While I next unseen around
a lot of garbage, there are some good discussions in there. I would
encourage those people who enjoy a lively discussion to look into
    it.

(and I personally think that Chelsea writes some of the best
    material in soap ;-) )
