826.0. "DEC in top 52 best US Employers for Women" by SUPER::HENDRICKS (The only way out is through) Thu Apr 28 1988 10:37
DEC - A top employer for women
DEC was among the 52 best US employers for women, a survey in the current
issue of Savvy magazine says. Other companies rated tops as employers of
women included building supplies retailer Payless Cashways Inc., Fidelity
Bank N.A. of Philadelphia and business-machine manufacturer Pitney-Bowes Inc.
The survey was the result of research conducted by Lorraine Dusky and Baila
Zeitze. They examined about 200 US companies that, according to women who
work there, excel in salary levels, benefits, sexual harassment policies,
hiring practices and opportunities for promotion. Dusky and Baila narrowed the
field to 52 companies they believe offer women the best overall work
environment. In the area of retailing, Payless Cashways of Kansas City, Mo.,
was cited as a top employer for women. So were Neiman Marcus of Dallas, a
division of Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc., Saks Fifth Avenue of New York, a
division of Batus Inc.; and Conran's USA of New York.

| A good control question, is the number of CEOs, VPs, and/or upper
level management positions held by women in these 52 best (including
DEC in the question).
