| Money fantasy: What if I won lots of money in a lottery or something?
Pay off my parent's mortgage or finance improvements or whatever. Buy
myself a nice little house - and furnish it. Buy another house in my
college town and rent it out. Hire a maid to do all the ordinary
things I should be able to do, but don't really want to.
One of the things about having money is that I could work at what
I wanted, without having to worry about what it paid. Unfortunately,
I like my current job and it doesn't adapt well to part-time.
Job fantasy: Write a book and then produce the movie based on the
(obviously) best-seller. How's that for creative narcissism?

821.6 | Why just Money? | SCOMAN::FOSTER | | Wed Apr 27 1988 15:22 | 13 |
| Can I get a bit wilder? (This has NOTHING to do with money!)
I've always fantasized about being able to fly. You know, like
Superman, but without the cape. And saving people and stuff. Not
to mention flying away from Mom when I was supposed to be punished...
The money fantasies I have always seemed altruistic, before I moved
to Massachussetts. Now, I doubt winning the lottery would be enough
to sustain normal living, much less paying off my parents' mortgage,
or that summer cottage in the Bahamas... and the Italian sports
car. :-)

| 1. I would like to own my own antique jewelry store in Provincetown,
MA.
2. I'd also like to have a house on the ocean in either Provincetown
or Wellfleet.
3. I'd like to go antique shopping in London.
4. I'd like to take a trip around the world.
5. I'd like to establish a home (a large estate somewhere in the
country) for homeless cats, where several hundred cats could live
out happy lives who would otherwise have been strays or put to sleep.
6. I'd like to meet my 3 favorite (for different reasons) famous
people: Woody Allen, Alice Walker and Bruce Springsteen.

| I'd like a house somewhere in the 'burbs with the following:
2 fireplaces (one in the living room, one in the bedroom)
a sun deck
a Steinway grand piano
a jacuzzi
a room with lots of windows, seascape paintings on the wall,
and an INCREDIBLE stereo
a room to tinker with electronics, and enough parts to do it.
a MAC II, with all the fixin's
a fitness ctr (Universal-type machine, rower, lifecycle...)
a Scirocco in the driveway
a pinball machine of my choice in the gameroom
And of course, I don't want to have to worry about the mortgage
payments too much.
I'd like a vacation house on the coast of Maine, somewhere not too
near civilization.
Attractive, antique jewelry - classic cuts on classic stones set
in classic metals. (maybe I'll buy from you, eh?)
To be able to draw/paint whatever I want (the talent is what I need,
not the time or money).
To get published (poetry and/or prose) - and widely READ.

| I'd buy a nice house (but not a mansion) somewhere in the middle of the
mountains, on a totally wooded lot with rhodendron and dogwoods growing
wild all over. A place where my senses would be totally stimulated
just by looking out the window. I lived in such a place once, and
every trip to the window or out the door was worth a ton of
tranquilizers. I miss it.
Then I'd spend my days cooking wonderful food (after all, what else
IS there in life?), entertaining friends, reading, and making green
things grow (THAT'S what else there is in life!).
As far as bettering mankind, I'd fund research to come up with a remedy
for calories: perhaps a way to inhibit digestion, so people like me
who absolutely live for food could eat what we want without being as
big as the side of a barn. Having to watch what I eat is by far the
most frustrating thing about my life, and lifting that restriction
would be worth any amount of money to me.
Yes, I'm serious.

| 1. Build a replica of a Viking Dragon Ship in California and sail
south around the America's and Prove that Could have been done
By Erik Thorvaldson in his Heyday!
2. Build something wild like a Gravity/Magnet propulsion system
for space travel. (Gravity repulsion to get off planet and
convert to Magnetic attraction/repulsion while in space)
Or maybe travel backwards in time to the Days of the dinasaurs?
(spelling) and Invent a Device where you could rearrange the
atoms and molecules of matter such as stone or sand to create
a natural house.
Others, none so exciting!

| Another of my fantasies revolves around careers. If I didn't feel
like doing my present job, I could be a concert pianist one day
and perhaps a gourmet cook the next and a captain on a large
sailing vessel the next, etc. Wouldn't it be fun just to wake up
and do exactly what you feel like doing that day (career-wise).
Think of the posssibilities!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to grow gills and live in the ocean, and I'd like all my
friends to be able to do that, too, so we could have a smashing
party in a coral reef. Imagine dancing amidst the seaweed and the
fishes, everything lit in the eerie blue light of a reef. And a
raw bar close at hand ;-) (or is that fin?)
Technology being what it is, scuba lessons will probably get me
as close as I'm going to come to this one, but wouldn't it be nice?

I'd buy .7's #1 fantasy!! (especially if there are
lots of rhinestones/diamonds!!)
I'd love to send my parents to Hawaii. It's Mom's dream.
I'd love to go shopping in Paris.
Be stranded on an island in the Caribbean with my SO
where I don't have to worry about car payments, insurance
payments, rent.........
