    This sounds interesting. Has anyone attended in past years? Opinions?

    Is it directed mostly at developers and engineers or would a woman
    in marketing, tech writing, educational services, etc. also benefit?

    Thanks for any information...

712.3I went and I'll go again!FXADM::OCONNELLIrish by NameWed Feb 10 1988 15:3420
I attended last year and really enjoyed it. I wasn't an
engineer...I had just been promoted to a Systems Specialist job,
and I don't have any degrees yet. There were lots of people who
were in the same boat. Many of the topics for dicussion are of
general interest to any woman in business.

This year I'm going with our Personnel Consultant. A great deal
of what's being discussed is job-related for her.

Holly Sweet did the "Imposter Syndrome" workshop last year. It
was really well done. I went out and got the book she used and
found it very helpful in determining just what was keeping me
from reaching for my fullest potential. I'm not cured yet, but I
get healthier every day. Going to this conference was the first
step.

Look for me if you get there.

    a note from your moderator:
    I've started a new note on "The Imposter Phenomenon". Let's use
    this note to continue discussing the conference.

    I have attended the last two years. I find the conference extremely
    helpful. It has become one of my weather-vanes for my career. The
    panel discussions and breakout sessions are well organized, well
    presented, and allow participants to discover new things about
    themselves and/or clarify their needs/desires.

    This conference (and National SWE conferences) are geared towards
    career guidance for women. Little, to no, attempt is made to discuss
    the latest technical advance of a specific engineering discipline;
    this is done very well through the technical conferences in each field.

    The ability to talk with other participants should not be undervalued
    either. In each of our positions we share more similarities than
    differences.

    If you haven't gone before, give it a try. (Be prepared for the tough
    parking problems though....argh)
