Please can someone explain to an ignorant English person (from DEC UK) what SO stands for? I have deduced that it means "other half", as an alternative to boy/ girlfriend, husband/wife etc and I have been wracking my brains to work out what the initials stand for, but haven't come up with anything sensible yet. Please excuse me if this has already been explained in a previous note. Happy Christmas/Seasons Greetings to everyone Janet

Hi Janet. It has been discussed before, and you'll no doubt find it if you keep reading the old notes in this conference. Until then, though, it usually means "significant other" and serves as a gender-free, non-ageist way of describing a person one is in a primary relationship with! Somewhere in the old notes there are some alternate suggestions for SO which are pretty funny, but I can't find them to point you there at the moment. Holly | |||||

Thank you, I'm now enlightened. I like Special One - I think I'll use that in future. |
