608.0. "Green skins and 3 arms and chlorphyl only please" by SSDEVO::YOUNGER (God is nobody. Nobody loves you.) Mon Dec 21 1987 13:33

What do you dream about when photosynthesizing?

If one does not need to kill to eat then one can spend one's
time aspiring to higher thought, the creative and the aesthetic.
We would also spend some time in honor of the light that gives life
    to all of us.

Perhaps I was equating having green skin, three arms, and chlorophyll
to being male - after all, there was a "men only" topic put in this
    file as well.

Elizabeth (who doesn't have green skin or three arms, and is incapable
    of photosynthesis)
608.4MANANA::RAVANI got my facts blurrin'Mon Dec 21 1987 15:1015
Well, gosh, .2 was obviously satirizing the "Oh, yeah? Well, you're
a sexist!" style of knee-jerk response that has filled about half
of this conference - and satirizing it pretty well, I thought.

.0 was just plain sarcastic. (I rather like sarcasm, myself...)

It's a good point, though. Humans are so - so - anthropomorphic?
They seem to think that their particular mode of promoting the species
via tool-building and the mass exploitation of every other living
thing on the planet is not only proper, but admirable. (This *is*
a generalization, of course, and I do so hate sentient beings who
generalize... Apologies to you independent-minded humans, wherever
    you may be.)

608.9What do you want to know?NEXUS::MORGANIn your heart you KNOW it's flat.Mon Dec 21 1987 16:2411
Since I fit the qualifications of this topic I'll respond.

What do you want to know about us Guluks?

As far as sexes go we have three. One you would refer to as masculine,
one as feminine and one as catalytic. All three are necessary to
produce a binary Guluk pup. Half the pup grows in the male, the
other half in the female and the bodily fluids are donated by the
    catalytic. I'm a catalytic myself.

    We like sunshine!

I dream of devouring only the most obnoxious and obstreperous of
noters. I figure when I've absorbed enough light and soil nutrient
then I will pick up my roots - and FIND THEM ALL!!!! :-)

... I wonder how far down in the ground I go. It feels reeeaaalll far.
Sometimes I wonder if parts of me come back out of the ground somewhere
else. Maybe that tree is me too? Or maybe everything is me? And how
astonishing it is that *I* am photosynthesizing at the center of the
universe! Wow!

I muse on perfect scales and moving back to California (a sunnier
    state).
