604.0. "the Gold Standard" by TFH::MARSHALL (hunting the snark) Fri Dec 18 1987 17:51

What started out as a way to break up an argument just might be
interesting as a full-blown discussion. So I hereby create a note
for the discussion of the resolution:

Resolved: It is in the best interest of a stable economy for
the value of a nation's currency to be fixed to a
    		standard quantity of gold.

                  /
                 ( ___
                  ) ///

While I am reasonably liberal on the subject of topic digressions
this would probably be better discussed in soapbox.

    re .4:

So, I suppose this is not a "topic of interest to women" even after
    7 replies to it in 561 (.218,.219,.221,.222,.223,.225,.234)? I would
expect that if no one was interested that the topic would just die
a natural death, and if a discussion ensues then fine. Or are we
back into the issue of "is this file for 'topics of interest to
women' or is it for just 'womens issues'?"

Not wanting to set any "agenda" for this conference, I will not
continue this topic any further.(mod note/nowrite).

    >...this would probably be better discussed in soapbox.

I can't think of ANYTHING that is better _discussed_ in SOAPBOX.
Not if you're interested in _rational_ discussion anyway.
