599.0. "It was a great Party: Saturday 16th January" by REGENT::BROOMHEAD (Don't panic -- yet.) Tue Dec 15 1987 10:15

I had to miss the last party, because I was elsewhen. But I'm
willing to host the next one, if people are willing to come to
    Wayland, Massachusetts.

Is anyone tempted by New Year's Day? or by the rest of that
weekend? Or perhaps by some other Friday evening in January
(except the 30th) or February (except the 19th)?

I'd like to try for the next one, too, since I missed the
previous one. It depends on when, though, as I'll be out of

Pequot, Jerry, Pequot. Those colonials never could spell,
    (including my ancestors).

Wayland is southeast of Maynard, with only Sudbury between the
    two towns.

Shall we lean towards the middle of January, say the 15th?

Well, since you asked: I'm quite partial to Gruyere (an austrian
cheese like swiss, but harder and with almost no holes.), Saga ( a
layered cheese made of some Bleu cheese and Brie), interesting
cheddar like cheeses (almost all of them are English) like
Cotswild. There's also an excellent layered cheese of Blue and a
cheddar. I'm afraid that I don't remember the names of the other

My plane gets in from D.C. at 8, so whether I make it or not depends
on picking up the luggage, getting out to Alewife to pick up the
car, etc. If I do make it, it will probably be around 9:30, but
I would like to try to come for a while.

I am amazed that there have been no new additions to the party
list several days...usually by now we have last minute adds
    pouring in...

I have had three diff people write to me and say that they weren't
sure about going to Ann's house because they had argued with her...

Ann has replied that while she does expect a degree of intellectual
rigor from the people she discusses things with that no one should
feel that disagreeing with her in a arguement should be a reason
    not to come on Sat.

    Eagle,

I've had racoons. I have pictures of racoons. In my garage.
In my kitchen. In my living room. I do not *want* to have

a bottle of peanut oil, and *then* attempt to drag it home with
    them? More than once?)

To put out food for smaller animals is unfair; I have cats.

Blame the dessert on LeNtre -- Desserts and Pastries. It was the
"Concorde" a combination of chocolate meringue and chocolate mousse.
Took longer to clean the kitchen than it did to make the cake.

Any one can do it: you just need 14 eggs, some sugar, some cocoa,
and 3/4 pound of chocolate (1/2 Merkens Yucatan, 1/2 unsweetened baking
chocolate.)

Martin.
