514.0. "A subversive minority group?" by RDGCSS::WATKINS (Un oeuff is un oeuff !!) Thu Oct 15 1987 08:00
Earlier this year, Labour announced its decision to appoint a Minister
for Women.
Later on this month, there is a Women's Conference in Blackpool.
Do you think as I do, that by identifying and isolating women in
this way, we will come to be seen as a minority group or a special
case, such as the Black Minority Group, Gay & Lesbians etc?
Do you not think that by calling attention to ourselves in this
way we are doing ourselves more harm than good?
This is not meant to be offensive to anyone, I am just interested
to hear other people's opinions on the matter.
Thanks,
Suzy.

| I don't think so. I think of them as a way to make our/your intentions
known, and to increase public awareness of a problem in which one
of the groups may be experiencing.
