    Though it's a little far in advance to make a firm commitment, I'm
    planning on being there and I'll bring a pot of clam chili (something
    to warm us up in December), so we'll need bowls as well as plates.
    If this is too inconvenient or "messy" for the party, I'll bring

    Seriously though, I'm really disappointed that I can't come, and I'd
    love to have you folks meet her. She's really something special. We met
    in [blush] freshman honors math at UCSD. (By the way, out of eight of
    us in that class, three were women. I was pleasantly surprised, but
    don't get me started on the way our educational system discourages
    women from studying technical subjects, especially math... grrr.)
    Hmmm... *she's* not going to DECUS, I wonder if it's safe to let
    her talk to you about me when I'm not around... I'll have to think
    about this.
    
    Oh no! I just realized, she said something about having to go "back
    east" the first week in December on business. This is awful! She
    really might be able to go and I wouldn't! I'm serious! I *will*
    have to talk to her about this.

    502.54). Let me know if you don't receive my message or if you decide
    between now and Friday to attend the party. If you can't reach me
    on MEWVAX, try ISTG (Mewvax's node address just changed -- ask your

    BTW, I don't think I'll bring cheese -- we'll have enough food without.
    It would be helpful, though, if someone could bring paper plates
    and napkins.

    As it happens, I'll only be bringing the nametags in the sense of
    physically transporting them...their actual creation will have been
    by the courtesy of Catherine Iannuzzo (and are they nice!!).
    
    Now if only I can remember to bring the beer...            

    This has been a long week and I didn't get to make the clam chili.
    I'll be bringing whatever looks good from a take-out place.

    Last minute update:
    
    - The snow looks impressive, but so far isn't sticking to the roads
      (and the storm has just been downgraded in severity).

    - Please park in the driveway if you can; otherwise, park in the
      street (as usual, being considerate of neighbors' driveways).
    
    - I've gotten a few messages asking if there's room for one more.
      The answer is "yes". Send me mail, and i'll reply with directions.
    
    - If you don't have anything to bring, I suspect we won't starve!
      (Translation: Don't worry about it).
    
    - But if you're still wondering what to bring, some juice would
      be great.

    It was a wonderful party, and my thanks also to Liz and Bob for
    letting us gather in their house...and thanks to all the wonderful

    Wow! That was a great party. We all owe thanks to a few people:
    We had spiffy nametags specially prepared by Catherine Iannuzzo.
    Bonnie Reinke did a lot of behind-the-scenes planning, organizing,
    and soothing of ruffled feathers.
    Donald Reinke brought a guitar and got people singing together.
    Meigs Glidewell handled the clean-up activities bravely and well
    (what a whirlwind!).
    And everyone who came brought great food and left a surprisingly
    clean house (and not much else!) (Jim B: How can I get your mead
    bottles back to you?)
