462.0. "Looking for Feminist Health Ctr." by MEMV02::BULLOCK (Flamenco--NOT flamingo!!) Mon Aug 31 1987 11:14

    For years I have gone to the Feminist Health Center in Concord,
    NH for my gynocological workups. I have always been very happy
    with both the price and the quality of service at the Center.
    However, now that I have moved to Tewksbury, Mass. and work in Acton,
    Mass. it's a little hard to get to.

    Does anyone know of a similar Center in the area? I would also
    like to find a place to have mammography done in the same area.
    I called a place in Concord, Mass., but they insisted I have a
    "real doctor" that they can send the results to...I haven't had
    a "real doctor" in years, and didn't realize it was a crime to be
    healthy! ;-)

    Any advice would be welcome--I much prefer the helpful attitude
    and no-hurry atmosphere of the Clinic to a gynocologist. Altho,
    I suppose if I tried a female gyno it would be ok...again, any
    suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,

    Jane

462.1Let me know if you find anythingPLANET::WATKINSMon Aug 31 1987 13:118
    Well, there is the Portsmouth FHC. (Same as Concord) but I suppose
    it's the same distance away.

    I work in Westford, I saw a sign for the Westford Women's Health
    Ctr. (or something like that) right on Rt. 110. I haven't been
    there, but it would be on your way home. ??

462.2Gynos make me ill... ;-)INDEBT::TAUBENFELDAlmighty SETThu Oct 15 1987 18:4111
    I guess I missed something here, but what is a Feminist Health Center?
    Do only feminists work there or only feminists go there? Or is
    it feminist in that only women work there or only women go there?

    And as far as unhurried, why not go to a regular gyno? I've had
    about 8 and all of them took their own sweet time. I missed classes
    and labs because of their unhurriedness. You should try it.

    Did you ever find a feminist health center?

    There's a good one in Cambridge, MA on Huron Ave.
    called the Cambridge Womens' Health Center.

    I live in Nashua, but if I have anything to discuss
    with a gyno, I go there. They're an excellent source of
    alternative birth control (cervical cap).
