    _______________________________________________________________
A few questions, is it okay to post notices on events happening
around Mass. in this note? i.e. political action events, lectures,
protests, demonstrations, news briefs of women in the news, laws
    that impact heavily on women . . . . . .

Hope to hear from you all!

On July 18th, there will be a Bicentennial March for the ERA in
Philadelphia, Penna. Why Phillie and not Washington? Congress
will be convened in Philadelphia at the time of the march.

Interested? Call the Mass. NOW office at 782-1056.

Also, for those of you who are interested, the National NOW elections
will be held, in Philadelphia, the same weekend (July 17-19th).
The big news this year is that Ellie Smeal is NOT running for
re-election. The topics of the convention will include the election
of national officers and a discussion (and determination?) of the
direction of the organization. Should be interesting . . .

Interested? Call Mass. NOW at 782-1056 for more info, transportation,
    		 hotel reservations.

Note: You don't have to be a member to attend the conference
    	       or the march!

                   CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES SERIES
                     INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S WEEK

Lunchtime presentations on Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11 have been
scheduled in recognition of International Women's Week.

Thursday, March 10th
	Maynard Conference Room
	PKO3-1/D8, from 12:00 to 1:00.

Dr. Marcene Marcoux of Goodmeasure Enterprises
Topic: Leadership for the 21st Century

Dr. Marcoux will be speaking about the leadership needs for America today.
She will be discussing: masculine and feminine approaches to leadership
and the strengths and weaknesses of each model; the advantages of androgyny
in leadership; the need for collaboration in business as shown in business
teams and joint ventures. She will also talk about the changing workforce,
the growing significance of international markets and the importance of
selling differently to each culture. Dr. Marcoux will discuss the need for
leadership at all levels. Finally, she will address the need for global
leadership and the need for metaphors for leaders in the 21st century.

Friday, March 11th
	Maynard Conference Room
	PKO3-1/D8, from 12:00 to 1:00.

Dr. Claudia Dobkin of DEC/Media Communications Group
Topic: Case Studies in French Advertising

You don't have to be a man to like women in French advertising. You can
indulge in high calorie foods and break away from family and chores. But
that's not all; people enjoy, discuss and even celebrate advertising. A
presentation of selected award-winning campaigns will show how language,
culture and women interact in French advertising and why it has become a
noteworthy cultural phenomenon.

The following is an edited version of our local (i.e. Mill)
announcement. In it, you'll see something termed "Video Lunch"
which is pretty much what it sounds like - we serve a lunch and
people watch the video while eating; group discussion usually
follows. I should at least mention that the $4.00 ticket price
is to defray the cost of the lunch. Though you'll probably be
able to deduce as much by looking at the menu, it's at least
worth mentioning that it's *not* a Tobin's affair; the caterer
    is a woman-owned business.

I should also mention that all events are open to non-NPO employees,
but according to the committee, the video lunch is almost sold out.

Please forward all questions, requests for tix, etc. to Theresa
Kane (dtn 223-8915, VAXmail HANDY::KANE). And, because I'd talked
about it in another message, we *will* be getting "Still Killing
Me Softly" in the near future. I (or Theresa) will post that info.
    here.

			FILM - A WOMAN'S PLACE

			  Wednesday, March 9

		      REMARKABLE AMERICAN WOMEN!

Based on material gathered for LIFE Magazine special report
"Remarkable American Women". Brilliantly pays tribute to
noted women of the past. More importantly, it celebrates
that today a woman's place is everyplace! Narrated by Julie
Harris. "A Woman's Place" does not deal with legislation,
the women's lib movement or attitudes regarding women and
careers. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, the film says
to women...you CAN do it. It says to men...women HAVE done
	it and CAN do it.

To whom it may confuse, all this week a AM Talk radio show is doing a
Cosmopolitan sex survey for women only. This station can be heard all over
New England at 68am WRKO from 2:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon. Some one told me
about this and some of them are real since (Some of them are really funny).
I'm posting this only in here because this is women talking and telling
the public everything. Almost forgot, this is a call in talkshow so if
any of you would like to take part just call 617-255-6868 between 2 and 6.

The Circle begins with women coming together to meet one another,
to play, to laugh, to cry, to heal. The Circle comes together as
we gather to be serious and frivolous, to sing, to dance, to adorn
ourselves and to do rituals. The Circle grows as we discover the
past and explore the futre. The Circle transforms us and we rejoice.

This week will be a place to:
. set aside time for yourself as a woman
    . celebrate diversities
. create a community of women as we share our spiritual journeys

Who should attend: All women. This week is for women of all walks
of life and is for both newcomers and longtimers in spiritual
practice. The week and the camp will be drug and alcohol free.
