| Well, I don't know about anybody else, but I've been burning up
a lot of energy in notes. There hasn't been enough sun around here
to speak of this month, much less soak up!
But it is a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

| My tech and I have a **horrible** case of spring fever, but when
spring refuses to happen...
No sun. Cold, and no sun. NO FAIR!!! If I wanted this kind of
weather, I'd spend the winter in Europe. I feel like going on strike
until the powers that be determine that New England should be sunny;
every day when I wake up and see that its going to be another bleah
day, I will turn over and sleep through the day.
For me, no sun = no motivation. And you know when it comes out
I won't want to stay at work...
I want to open all the windows in my apartment and get the spring
cleaning finished, but I have to stay at work :(

The extra energy for New Englanders could be attributed to the
fact that it may snow at any moment so if the weather is good
go out and enjoy it.

| I think any overseas visiters to the UK (South UK especially) at
the moment would faint -- not because of the extreme heat (although
it has hit the 70's) but because the Sun is actually shining. Sun
in April is almost unheard of (1911 is the last recorded warm weather
spell in April)..... we're used to April showers (or usually storms).
I understand Eire (Galway) is experiencing the same thing too......
it's brill!
My suggestion is to get over to the UK as soon as possible, knowing
our weather we could be in six inches of snow tomorrow 8-}.
I off now to sit in the sun (lunchtime)........

It seems to me that each year we get cheated out of spring

Frankly, I prefer snow to humidity.

| I'm with you, Alison. I haven't felt this good since sitting close
to the fireplace all last winter. Went to a huge indoor nursery
about a month ago (50 degrees outside), and they kept the place so warm

The humidity really makes your skin feel good. A very humid 77-86
degrees is perfect!

I'd be satisfied if it never got above 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Firstly whatd'ya mean 90 is hot? (Having spent time in Libya, Israel
Saudi Arabia and other hot places...) I claim noting under 120 qualifies.
As for liking it humid... Well I can say that at the moment I have dug
my asthma inhaler out of the cupboard in case of emergency, and am
conscious of breathing with great difficulty and a degree of pain. I
certainly wouldn't care to take physical exercize until I've had at
least a week to acclimitise.
I think my doctor was right: I should go and work in Arizona. Or Antarctica
(I definitely feel best when the temperature is below 0 and humidity
below 20%)
The humidity and heat in the office are rising as they do every day.
I think I may go home soon. (Though a nice hot, spicy Thai meal may
help.) :-)

293.36 | you get used to working in the heat | CADSYS::RICHARDSON | | Thu Jun 04 1987 13:40 | 21 |
| If you work out in the weather you get acclimated pretty fast.
I feel a bit sluggish for the first couple of days of hot-n-sticky,
but after that I am OK - I don't have air-conditioning, so I get
acclimated pretty quickly even though it is cold in my DECcube,
and the heat doesn't bother me.
My FRIENDS, though, are getting "soft" as they all acquired
air-conditionning, etc., and won't come over any more even for parties
if it is hot out -- one year several people apologized for not coming
to the Great Ice Cream party (six hand-crank ice cream makers going
all afternoon -- great fun when fresh-peach season comes!) because
they couldn't stand the thought of being out in the heat, even for
ice cream! Softies...
Really! Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts; you'll get used
to it!
Of course, it is rainy, foggy, and NOT warm here today - had to
get my spring jacket back out! Oh, well, it is great weather for
all the stuff I transplanted over the weekend - I don't have to
water it!
