On the occasion of the 15'th anniversary of the Women's School, I feel

providing education for women. It has been offering free classes and
workshops by and for women for 15 years. They are a part of The Women's
Center (of Cambridge).

Facilitators, childcare workers, and other staff are all volunteers. We rely
on voluntary contributions to cover postage, printing, and other expenses.

Do you have ideas for a course or workshop that you would like to offer
through the Women's School?

Are you interested in working with the School, doing outreach, publicity,
childcare, flyer distribution, etc?

Then LET US KNOW!

The Women's School has continued for 15 years because of women like you!

cR.A.S.h course: A workshop with Rock Against Sexism May 9, 1-4pm at
FemmeCore Space, 464 Harrison Ave. (near Dover Station on Boston's Orange
Line)

During the first half of the afternoon, we will listen to rock'n'roll (both
the good and the bad stuff), examine lyrics and discuss the issues suggested
by the music and you, such as: can one be a feminist and still like
rock'n'roll? Do sexist lyrics create sexist culture or reflect it? Can
political music be a force for positive change? Can women's music be hard,
fast, and angry? Etc.

The second part of the workshop will provide hands-on time with electric
instruments, drums, amplifiers, effects pedals, mikes, basic set-up and space
to make loud, unlady-like sounds. As a group we'll put together some simple
chords, write some lyrics, and maybe come away with our very own song!

Beginners are very welcome. Meet at the Women's Center at 12:30pm to pool
transportation if you prefer. For info call (617)350-7598 or 734-1672.

Thanks for bringing the Women's School to the awareness of this
    community!

I worked on the collective for about a year and a half at a time
when energy was not all that high, and community participation wasn't
so great either. I have friends who worked on the collective after
me who thought the school wouldn't survive.

I'm so pleased to see that it is strong and vibrant with such excellent
    workshops!

For those of you who've never experienced what women can do together
(and for those you have)...take a class at the Cambridge Women's
    School!

I just [before I wrote this the first time] received a phone call from
a community member who expressed apprehension about the implied
financial solicitation in Don's reprint (.1) of the Courses&Workshops
flyer. If anyone feels as though an improper solicitation-of-money has
indeed been made, please communicate with me or with Don so that the
offending portion can be edited out.
