| I'd trust "love at first sight" *more* if one or both of the people
were experienced in relationships. I'd trust it less if the people
involved were starry-eyed and sixteen.
It happens that way for me. In the best relationships I've been
in, I knew immediately how I felt, and always had to wait for the
other person to "catch on"!

| I echo Holly's sentiment. It gets frustrating when LAFS doesn't
work out in a longer (>8 mos) term, though. I think perhaps the
more experience one has had with the relationships, the more one
knows one's own feelings and can recognize LAFS.

| Falling in love doesn't take any 'set' amount of time. It depends
on two factors - how right the other person seems and how much you
WANT to or are READY to fall in love. If you aren't ready, (you're
moving away soon, just got out of a bad relationship, etc), then an
ideal person may turn your head but 'falling in love' will take some
time.
If you are ready, then even a less than ideal person will fit the bill
and you'll be "in love" sooner than later.

I heard a saying once that rings very true.
"I have been in love many times,
but I have only been in true love once"

If one want's to fall in love then it takes no time at all.
if one doesn't want to, then it could take forever.
I believe falling in love is easy.
falling out of love is easy.
staying in love is hard...

| Oh, Chris. Falling out of love is to hard...very hard.
Probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Falling
in was much easier.

I was assuming that one who falls out of love does so by thier choice.
I realize that is not always the case.
I stand corrected.

| As long as it takes to get to know each other well
enough for one *good* shouting match, plus 30 seconds.
If the relationship survives this, it is probably more
than infatuation.
