| What's it all about, Mez? I don't watch the telly (I turn it on
occasionally to see if it works) but if it's decent then mebbe I'll
make an exception.

| Sorry I didn't explain. It's about the black civil rights movement.
Each one is chronological (ie - they've done the beginning of the
black movement, circa 1955 [my history s*cks], for the first show).
Easy to draw paralells and get good ideas from it, if you're not
up on civil rights movements.

179.3 | A Really Powerful Series | BPOV09::TYRRELL | | Wed Jan 28 1987 13:05 | 11 |
| It's a very powerful statement about the history of civil rights in this
country ... one that has never been chronicled before in such a fashion. I saw
the entire six hours of film previewed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
The producer is Henry Hampton, who is a Boston film producer. His company is
called Blackside, and apparently they have done some work for Digital.
I strongly recommend it ... I am watching it again each week. Tonight is the
second episode - the entire project covers the period 1954 - 1965. I, too,
learned a lot ... about history and about the incredible struggle, against all
odds, that took place for just basic human rights.

I agree the series is extremely powerful. I saw the first episode
and wished I had taped the program. Tonight I plan to hook up the
VCR and tape this one.
Question????
If anyone out there happened to tape the first episode, would
it be possible to make a copy?????
I'll supply the tape!

The Woman's Rights movement has roots in the Civil Rights movement.
The show is extremely well done.
