159.0. "Everything I eat turns to health and beauty." by RT101::AMARAL (DARIA) Thu Jan 08 1987 16:34

Food has such value in our lives for nourishing our bodies as
well as delighting our senses that it must be the most diabolical
torture we could devise for ourselves to have it also be so necessary
to our pleasure and our self image.

We are such intricate beings needing so much stimulation to
just survive and here we go mucking up the stimulant with the most
power to satisfy by tying it to social as well as personal ostracism.

I've had eating disorders for many years and have found ways
out by looking inward for the power and beauty of a universal
intelligence. One book that provided me with a lot of help in changing
my viewpoint is "The Only Diet There Is" by Sondra Ray. It is not
about eating food or dieting on food. It is about dieting on love
and about affirming that the food you eat turns to health and beauty,
there are no bad or good foods, only nourishment to body or soul.

About three months ago I authored and wrote down the following
affirmations and stuck them on my refrigerator:

I eat with the love of my own beauty.

The foods I eat nourish, strengthen and protect me.

There is joy in the bounty.

Please feel free to use them. I'm trying to control my weight since
    quitting cigarettes. They help.

There is a file SABRE::SUPPORT which has given me some help
in this area. Hope to hear from you there.
