134.0. "Susan B. Anthony Dinner in Manchester NH" by ORION::BLACHEK (Chocolate is my destiny) Sat Dec 13 1986 12:15

I want to announce the Susan B. Anthony dinner for anyone who might
    be interested.

It will be at The Center of New Hampshire on Saturday, February 21,
1987. The speaker is Rayna Green, a folklorist and anthropologist who
    works at the Smithsonian.

Last year a group of us from DEC went and we had a great time. It is
sponsored by the YWCA, the Nashua chapter of NOW calls this "the
feminist event of the year in NH!" Last year's speaker was Gloria
Steinem, so that definitely added to the excitement. Some of the women
in my group took their daughters and the place was filled with women
who were excited about being women. The atmosphere was electric!

You can call the YWCA at (603)625-5785 for more information. The
tickets cost $22, but the profits go to help women in New Hampshire.

The dinner starts with a social hour at 5:30. Carolyn McDade is
the entertainment. Of course, we sing happy birthday to Susan B.
    Anthony!

The tickets go fast so act now! They start selling them on January
    5. You can mail for them, just send your check (payable to YWCA)
along with your name, home address, phone number, and a SASE to:

SBA Dinner, YWCA, 72 Concord St., Manchester, NH 03101

    Hope to see you there!

134.1She's worth listening to!HBO::HENDRICKSHollyTue Dec 16 1986 16:1012
I'm glad you mentioned this! Rayna Green used to be at UMass/Amherst.
When I did an internship in Washington, DC, at the Library of Congress,
she was at the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences,
and she met with me several times and cross-sponsored me, so to
speak. I was doing a project on Women in Folk Song, and she could
pull helpful references out of the air on any subject even remotely
    related to women or folklore.

She was wonderful. She is very articulate, and a pleasure to listen
to. I hope I can go to this .
