So what's your point, George? Are you suggesting we go back to the
days of the men being king of the castle and the women being barefoot
    and pregnant?

Looks to me like 127 and 126 are related. In fact, there was an article
in the Boston Globe Magazine a while back on female politicians, and
again the big issues was the same thing. Now that women are making
progress in Western society, what should they do with it? What bad
points are worth taking on, to make the good points? Is it worth using
gender-specific language (mankind, etc.) in a bill to promote women's
rights, if the bill is more likely to succed that way?

Being a human, I don't mind coping with the pros and cons of holding
a responsible place in the community. I heard on TV last night that
women are more apt to go to the doctor's than men. So, perhaps,
we bring a sense of care, for ourselves and our lives and our
colleagues, to the business world. A sense of the importance of
well-being, to balance the sense of stocism (I've been reading Marilyn
French lately). And maybe it'll help.

We've come a short way, but we're not babies.
