117.0. "Traditional or Egalitarian?" by COOKIE::ZANE (Shattering Reality) Tue Nov 25 1986 16:27

  Help!

I need to complete a class project before the end of the semester. So,
I am conducting an informal survey in which I am asking you to participate.
Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability. Your
answers will remain anonymous; I am interested in statistics only.

(I am posting the same entry in the HUMAN_RELATIONS, WOMANNOTES and
MENNOTES conferences for a greater audience. Please respond to only one
  of them).

Having been raised in a "traditional" family, I tried to continue the
"tradition" in my first marriage. That didn't work for me, so now I'm on
my own and I've since become more egalitarian in my outlook on and
expectations of relationships. The relationship I have with my current
partner is egalitarian, 'though he too was raised in a "traditional"
  family.

(I use traditional to mean that the men/boys have preset expectations for
their behavior, their way of life that are very different from the
expectations preset for women/girls. E.g., men are engineers, women are
teachers; men hide their feelings, women are overly emotional, etc.)

Were you raised in a traditional family? What is your family like now?
If you are single, what kind of family would you like to have? (Just
wanting to stay single is also a valid answer...). What factors (past or
present) contributed to your choice? How does this affect your
relationships with your significant other, your children, the people you
  work with?

One more set of questions: where do you live now and where did you live as
a child? What is your current profession? How old are you?

Thanks in advance for your help. I shall post the results of the survey
to the HUMAN_RELATIONS, WOMANNOTES and MENNOTES conferences during the
  first week of December.
